Description
Alpha-N-arabinofuranosidase is an enzyme with system name alpha-L-arabinofuranoside arabinofuranohydrolase. This enzyme catalyses the following chemical reaction: Hydrolysis of terminal non-reducing alpha-L-arabinofuranoside residues in alpha-L-arabinosides. The enzyme acts on alpha-L-arabinofuranosides, alpha-L-arabinans containing (1,3)- and/or (1,5)-linkages, arabinoxylans and arabinogalactans.

Unit Definition
One Unit of α-L-arabinofuranosidase activity is defined as the amount of enzyme required to release one µmole of arabinose per minute from wheat arabinoxylan (10 mg/mL) in sodium phosphate buffer (100 mM) pH 6.0.
Stability
Stable at room temperature for > 6 h at pH 6.0. Stable for 2 hours at pH 6.0 and temperatures up to 50°C. Stable for > 2 years at 4°C. On dissolution in buffer, store at -20°C. Stable to repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
