Description
In enzymology, a feruloyl esterase (EC 3.1.1.73) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction: feruloyl-polysaccharide + H2O rightleftharpoons ferulate + polysaccharide. Thus, the two substrates of this enzyme are feruloyl-polysaccharide and H2O, whereas its two products are ferulate and polysaccharide. This enzyme belongs to the family of hydrolases, specifically those acting on carboxylic ester bonds.

Preparation Instructions
For assay, this enzyme should be diluted in sodium phosphate buffer (100 mM), pH 6.0 containing 1.0 mg/ml BSA. Swirl to mix the enzyme immediately prior to use.
