Enzyme Activity Measurement for UDP-Glucose-Hexose-1-Phosphate Uridylyltransferase

Creative Enzymes is an industrial biotech company specialized in enzymatic activity assays. True to our company tradition, we firmly believe that the quality of our services is the basic requirement for our corporate success. Fully equipped with the most advanced spectrophotometric instruments, we are proud to offer the reliable enzyme activity assay for UDP-glucose-hexose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase in a professional and timely manner.

UDP-glucose-hexose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase (EC is an enzyme that catalyzes the reversible transfer of the uridine 5’-phosphoryl moiety from uridine 5’-diphosphate glucose (UDP-Glc) to galactose-1-phosphate (Gal-1-P) to produce uridine 5’-diphosphate galactose (UDP-Gal) and glucose-1-phosphate (Glc-1-P). The reaction is part of the Leloir pathway of galactose metabolism required for the normal equilibration of UDP-hexoses among most organisms. In this pathway, galactose is first phosphorylated to Gal-1-P by galactokinase. UDP-glucose-hexose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase then catalyzes the transfer of the uridylyl group from UDP-Glu to Gal-1-P to produce UDP-Gal and Glc-1-P, which then enters the glycolytic pathway. UDP-glucose-hexose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase is apparently ubiquitous, and it is a member of the histidine triad (HIT) superfamily, which functions as either nucleotide hydrolase or transferase that reacts with the α-phosphorus of nucleotide.

It is noteworthy that galactosemia, the human autosomal recessive genetic disease, results from the impairment of UDP-glucose-hexose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase activity, leading to toxic levels of galactose and Gal-1-P. Therefore, UDP-glucose-hexose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase may play a pivotal role as a target for the inhibitor design in galactosemia treatment. In order to investigate the functional significance of UDP-glucose-hexose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase, it is critical to monitor the activity of this enzyme.

Possessing the leading technology, professional knowledge, and the most advanced equipment, Creative Enzymes is completely qualified for providing the accurate enzyme assay for UDP-glucose-hexose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase. The activity of UDP-glucose-hexose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase is measured by a coupled assay. The activity is determined by coupling the formation of Glc-1-P to phosphoglucomutase and Glc-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and monitoring the reduction of NADP+ at 340 nm spectrophotometrically. Note that the results of our enzymatic assays are most trusted and proven. Our high-quality enzyme assay services have been commended by more and more customers. With the addition of Creative Enzymes’ marketing and technical support, your research is positioned to succeed.
