γ-L-Glutamyl-L-glutamic acid 5-benzyl 1,5′-dimethyl ester hydrochloride is a γ-linked glutamyl-glutamate dipeptide derivative supplied as the hydrochloride salt. The side-chain carboxyl of the second residue is protected as a benzyl ester and both α-carboxyl groups are masked as methyl esters, leaving the N-terminal amino group free.
