Nanozymes-Based Ion Detection Services

In recent years, nanozymes have been developed for detecting ions due to their high sensitivity and selectivity to target metal ions. The catalytic activity (peroxidase or oxidase-like activity) of the nanozymes are significantly altered in the presence of target ions such as Cu2+, Ag+, Hg2+, CN, F and others. A variety of nanozymes, including Ag, Ag / Cu, Au, sulfur-doped graphene quantum dots (GQDs), GQDs / Au, have been utilized to develop colorimetric and fluorometric sensors for the detection of ions. Compared with traditional ion detection methods, assays based on nanozyme are more portable, simple, and highly sensitive, they can detect metal ion concentrations as low as parts per trillion.

Metal Ion Detection with Nanozymes

  • Many detection methods are highly sensitive and selective but time-consuming and require tedious sample preparation and sophisticated instruments. Thus, Creative Enzymes has developed a sensitive, selective and simple optical method for the detection of heavy metal ions in environmental samples. Using a variety of nanomaterials, metal ion colorimetric and fluorescence sensors for detecting nanomaterials have been developed.

  • We develop nanozyme based probes for the detection of heavy metal ions, which are small in size, portable and require only simple equipment. Therefore, they can be used for on-site analysis in a wide range of climatic conditions.
  • We also develop nanonetworks with a variety of simulated enzymatic properties, for the specific detection of Hg2+ and Pb2+ in water samples.
  • We provide comprehensive and individual assays of inorganic and organic mercury species, using DNA-engineered metal with copper oxide nanocomposites to mimic oxidase activity.
  • We also provide CuS hollow nanospheres with peroxidase mimic catalytic activity, they can be an efficient medium for enrichment and detection of Hg2+ through Hg-S bond formation.

Nonmetallic Ion Detection with Nanozymes

  • Fluorine detection is important for environmental and biological applications. In recent years, the use of enzyme mimicking activity of nanomaterials to develop biosensors has become a research hotspot. Creative Enzymes developes a nanozyme platform, where the oxidase-like activity of CeO2 nanozymes are significantly enhanced in the presence of fluoride.
  • We develop a simple one-step synthesis of well-dispersed amorphous GO nanozymes, and apply them to the detection of CN- ions.
  • The concentration of thiocyanate (SCN) in body fluids is a good indicator of potential and severe health problems, and we develop a visual SCN sensing method using gold quantum dots nanozymes.
