Enzymes for Research, Diagnostic and Industrial Use

(S)-2-Methylproline Hydrochloride

Cat No.
CEGZ-6990
Description
(S)-2-Methylproline hydrochloride is an α-methylated analogue of the proteinogenic amino acid L-proline, supplied as the hydrochloride salt. The additional methyl group at the α-carbon creates a quaternary center within the pyrrolidine ring.
Applications
Used as a building block in peptide synthesis and medicinal chemistry for the preparation of conformationally constrained, protease-resistant peptide analogues.
Product Overview
α-Methylproline is a strongly conformationally constrained amino acid whose incorporation into peptides stabilizes turn and helical structures and confers high resistance to proteolytic degradation, properties exploited in peptidomimetic and foldamer design.
