Enzymes for Research, Diagnostic and Industrial Use

4-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-oxoglutarate aldolase

Cat No.
EXWM-4902
Description
Requires a divalent metal ion. This enzyme participates in the degradation of protocatechuate (via the meta-cleavage pathway), phthalate, syringate and gallate. The enzyme from Pseudomonas ochraceae can also cleave 4-hydroxy-2-oxoglutarate to glyoxylate and pyruvate, and also catalyses the reaction of EC 4.1.1.3 (oxaloacetate decarboxylase).
Form
Liquid or lyophilized powder
Enzyme Commission Number
CAS_No
37290-65-6
Storage
Store it at +4 ºC for short term. For long term storage, store it at -20 ºC~-80 ºC.
Synonyms
pyruvate aldolase; γ-methyl-γ-hydroxy-α-ketoglutaric aldolase; 4-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-ketoglutarate aldolase; 4-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-oxoglutarate pyruvate-lyase; HMG aldolase; CHA aldolase; 4-carboxy-4-hydroxy-2-oxoadipate aldolase
Reaction
(1) 4-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-oxoglutarate = 2 pyruvate; (2) 2-hydroxy-4-oxobutane-1,2,4-tricarboxylate = oxaloacetate + pyruvate
