Description
In enzymology, a glycerophosphocholine phosphodiesterase (EC 3.1.4.2) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction:sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine + H2O↔ choline + sn-glycerol 3-phosphate. Thus, the two substrates of this enzyme are sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine and H2O, whereas its two products are choline and sn-glycerol 3-phosphate. This enzyme belongs to the family of hydrolases, specifically those acting on phosphoric diester bonds.
