Enzymes for Research, Diagnostic and Industrial Use

Ceramide from bovine spinal cord

Cat No.
NATZ-123
Description
Ceramides are generated from sphingomyelin through activation of sphingomyelinases or through the de novo synthesis pathway, which requires the coordinated action of serine palmitoyl transferase and ceramide synthase. They have been shown to mediate antiproliferative responses such as apoptosis, growth arrest, differentiation, and senescence. This product contains ceramide molecular species with primarily 2-hydroxy C24:0 and 2-hydroxy C18:0 fatty acyl chains.
