Enzymes for Research, Diagnostic and Industrial Use

Cutinase from Arxula adeninivorans

Cat No.
EXTZ-913
Description
Cutinase from Arxula adeninivorans (EC 3.1.1.74) is a serine esterase produced by controlled fermentation of the non-pathogenic, extremely robust yeast Arxula adeninivorans. Cutinases catalyze the hydrolysis of cutin, the insoluble polyester of omega-hydroxy and epoxy fatty acids that forms the plant cuticle, releasing the corresponding hydroxy fatty acid monomers. Beyond cutin, the enzyme hydrolyzes a broad range of soluble esters and insoluble polyester substrates, and also catalyzes esterification and transesterification reactions in low-water systems. This combination of esterase and lipase-like properties with good thermal and solvent stability makes it a valuable biocatalyst for organic synthesis, the production of functionalized fatty acid monomers, the enzymatic degradation and surface modification of synthetic polyesters, and textile and detergent applications. The product is supplied as a powder with an activity above 60,000 U/g.
