Enzymes for Research, Diagnostic and Industrial Use

EthylCellulose

Cat No.
EXTZ-759
Description
Ethylcellulose is a versatile, cellulose-derived polymer produced through the chemical modification of cellulose by treating it with chloroethane or ethylene oxide in the presence of a base. This process introduces ethyl groups to replace some of the hydroxyl groups in the cellulose structure.
As one of the most widely used polymers in pharmaceutical applications, ethylcellulose serves multiple functional purposes. It has been employed as a taste-masking coating for tablets and granules, a tablet binder, and in the preparation of microcapsules and microspheres. Most notably, it functions as an essential film-forming material for controlled-release formulations.
This product offers unique organic solubility and exceptional stability, and is available in various grades and viscosity ranges.
