Fmoc-Arg(Pbf)-OH carries base-labile Fmoc protection on the α-amino group and the acid-labile Pbf (2,2,4,6,7-pentamethyldihydrobenzofuran-5-sulfonyl) group on the guanidino side chain. The Pbf group is removed during final TFA cleavage, making this derivative the most commonly used protected arginine for routine Fmoc SPPS.
