Human Milk Oligosaccharides

Cat No.
EXTZ-665
Description
Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs) are the third most abundant solid components in human milk, following lactose and fat. HMOs are not easily digested and absorbed in the upper gastrointestinal tract; instead, most of them can reach the distal small intestine and large intestine intact, where they serve as substrates for beneficial bacteria (such as bifidobacteria), promoting their growth while inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria (such as Escherichia coli and Clostridium perfringens). In addition, HMOs are also involved in regulating the infant's immune system, reducing the risk of allergies and autoimmune diseases. There are also reports indicating that certain components of HMOs have positive effects on neurocognitive development.
