Description

Industrial sodium dichromate dihydrate is supplied as bright orange-red needle-like crystals. On heating to 84.6°C it loses crystal water to form an orange anhydrous material.

Applications

Used to manufacture chromic anhydride and other chromates and chrome-yellow pigments. It is also used for steel and metal etching and passivation, as a cooling-water buffering agent, textile mordant, wood preservative, oil-bleaching agent, and as an oxidizing agent in the synthesis of fragrances, pharmaceuticals, and dyes.
