Enzymes for Research, Diagnostic and Industrial Use

L-3-(2-Naphthyl)alanine

Cat No.
CEGZ-6953
Description
L-3-(2-Naphthyl)alanine is a non-proteinogenic aromatic amino acid in which the phenyl ring of phenylalanine is replaced by a 2-naphthyl group. The extended aromatic system increases hydrophobicity and π-surface area of the residue.
Applications
Used as a building block in peptide synthesis and medicinal chemistry for the preparation of aromatic amino acid-containing peptide analogues in pharmaceutical research.
Product Overview
Naphthylalanine residues are incorporated into peptides to enhance aromatic and hydrophobic interactions with biological targets, and they occur in a number of bioactive peptide analogues, including gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonists.
