Description

Nα-Fmoc-2,6-dimethyl-L-tyrosine is the Fmoc-protected form of 2,6-dimethyltyrosine (Dmt), an unnatural aromatic amino acid bearing methyl groups at both ortho positions of the phenol ring. It is used as a building block in Fmoc solid-phase peptide synthesis.

Used in solid-phase peptide synthesis for the preparation of conformationally constrained peptides, opioid receptor ligands, and other bioactive peptide analogues.

The two ortho methyl groups of the Dmt residue restrict rotation of the aromatic side chain and confer a strong topographical constraint, which has been exploited in the design of highly potent and selective opioid peptide ligands and other conformationally biased peptides.
