Enzymes for Research, Diagnostic and Industrial Use

N,N-Dimethyl-L-valine

Cat No.
CEGZ-6902
Description
N,N-Dimethyl-L-valine is an N-terminally dimethylated derivative of the proteinogenic amino acid L-valine. The two N-methyl groups eliminate hydrogen-bond donor capacity at the amino terminus and increase the lipophilicity of the residue.
Applications
Used as a building block in peptide synthesis and medicinal chemistry for the preparation of N-methylated peptide analogues with improved stability and permeability, and in natural product synthesis research.
Product Overview
N-Methylated amino acids are important tools in peptide medicinal chemistry because backbone N-methylation enhances proteolytic stability, membrane permeability, and conformational rigidity of peptides. N,N-Dimethylated residues are also found at the N-termini of several peptide natural products.
