Enzymes for Research, Diagnostic and Industrial Use

O-Methyl-L-tyrosine

Cat No.
CEGZ-50025
Description
O-Methyl-L-tyrosine (4-methoxy-L-phenylalanine) is a non-proteinogenic aromatic amino acid in which the phenolic hydroxyl group of tyrosine is present as a methyl ether. The free amino and carboxyl groups allow direct use in peptide synthesis.
Applications
Used as a building block in peptide synthesis and medicinal chemistry for the preparation of tyrosine-modified peptide analogues.
Product Overview
The methyl ether masks the polar phenolic group, increasing lipophilicity and metabolic stability of the residue. This amino acid is incorporated into peptides to modulate physicochemical properties and to study the role of the tyrosine hydroxyl group in biological activity.
