Source: Penthorum chinense Extract is derived from the dried aerial parts of Penthorum chinense Pursh (common name: Ganhuangcao), a perennial herb of Penthoraceae family. It is a traditional Miao ethnomedicinal and food-medicine homologous plant mainly cultivated in Gulin, Sichuan, China. Its major bioactive compounds include flavonoids, polyphenols, phenolic acids, lignans and triterpenes. Functions: Well known for hepatoprotective activity. It exerts antioxidant effects to scavenge ROS, alleviates alcoholic and non-alcoholic liver injury, regulates hepatic lipid metabolism and delivers anti-inflammatory properties. It also supports choleresis, gut microbiota modulation and antibacterial effects. Traditionally, it is used for clearing heat, promoting diuresis, reducing edema and activating blood circulation. Typical applications: Raw material for liver-support dietary supplements and functional health foods; applied in herbal beverages; used as antioxidant ingredient in cosmetics; also widely adopted for in-vitro pharmacological, fermentation and cell model research.
