Quercetin belongs to a group of plant pigments called flavonoids that give many fruits, flowers, and vegetables their colors. It is also an antioxidant found naturally in onions, apples, and other produce. Quercetin has GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) status, and no side-effects have yet been noted in doses of a few grams a day in either humans or animals.
