Sunflower Wax

Cat No.
EXTZ-918
Description
Sunflower Wax is a natural vegetable wax recovered during the winterization of sunflower seed oil, in which the high-melting waxy fraction is crystallized out of the crude oil and then refined and decolorized. The wax consists predominantly of very long-chain saturated wax monoesters (C40-C60) with an unusually narrow carbon-number distribution, which gives it exceptional crystallization and structuring efficiency. Supplied as pale yellow granules with a melting point of 74-80°C, sunflower wax forms firm, glossy oleogels at addition levels of only 2-3%, lower than almost any other natural wax. It is an excellent vegan alternative to beeswax and a powerful hardener for carnauba and candelilla blends. In cosmetics it is used to structure lipsticks, balms, deodorant sticks, and hair pomades, and to stabilize emulsions and improve their viscosity and skin feel. In food applications it serves as a glazing and coating agent for confectionery and fruit.
