Enzymes for Research, Diagnostic and Industrial Use

Tween 80

Cat No.
EXTZ-908
Description
Tween 80 (Polysorbate 80) is a nonionic surfactant prepared by ethoxylation of sorbitan monooleate with approximately 20 moles of ethylene oxide. It is a clear amber to yellow viscous liquid with a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) of about 15, making it an excellent oil-in-water emulsifier, solubilizer, dispersant, and wetting agent. In food systems it stabilizes emulsions in ice cream, salad dressings, and flavor concentrates. In cosmetics and personal care it solubilizes fragrance oils and vitamins in aqueous gel and serum formulations and improves the texture of creams and lotions. In pharmaceutical formulations it serves as a solubilizer and stabilizer for poorly water-soluble actives and biologics. It is soluble in water and ethanol and is compatible with a wide range of ingredients across the full usable pH range.
