Background
Imidazole glycerol-phosphate dehydratase (IGPD) catalyzes the sixth step of histidine biosynthesis. The enzyme is of fundamental biochemical interest, because it catalyzes removal of a non-acidic hydrogen atom in the dehydration reaction.
