Enzyme Activity Measurement for Lactaldehyde Reductase (NADPH) Using Spectrophotometric Assays

Creative Enzymes provides the most accurate activity measurement for lactaldehyde reductase (NADPH). We have a skillful team with many extraordinary scientists who have been working on enzyme activity assays for years. The unique and superior service distinguishes Creative Enzymes from our competitors. Creative Enzymes relies on its excellent team, the most up-to-date techniques and developed robust activity analysis to satisfy the customer’s request.

Lactaldehyde reductase (NADPH) (EC1.1.1.55) is an enzyme that catalyzes the oxidation of propane-1,2-diol, using NADP+ as the redox cofactor to produce L-lactaldehyde. This enzyme is a member of the oxidoreductases, more specifically, the oxidoreductases that catalyze the CH-OH group of the substrate and use NAD+ or NADP+ as the cofactor. The systematic name of this enzyme class is propane-1,2-diol:NADP+ oxidoreductase, which is also called lactaldehyde (reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate) reductase,NADP+-1,2-propanediol dehydrogenase, propanediol dehydrogenase, and 1,2-propanediol:NADP+ oxidoreductase. This enzyme exists in many bacteria, such as Escherichia coli and Paenibacillus macerans. In addition, it is also found in Rattus norvegicus (rat). Additionally, lactaldehyde reductase (NADPH) plays an important role in the following biological pathways:

  • Ethylene glycol degradation;
  • Glyoxylate and dicarboxylate metabolism;
  • L-lactaldehyde degradation;
  • L-lactaldehyde degradation (anaerobic);
  • Methylglyoxal degradation VI ;
  • Microbial metabolism in diverse environments;
  • Propanoate metabolism

Both propane-1,2-diol (substrate) and L-lactaldehyde (product) are important chemical intermediates. Propane-1,2-diol can be used as a chemical feedstock for the production of unsaturated polyester resins. Propane-1,2-diol and L-lactaldehyde serve the pharmaceutical and chemical industries as critical stereo resources for synthesis of other biological small molecules because of their rare configuration of the stereochemistry. Therefore, Lactaldehyde reductase (NADPH) holds a critical position in pharmaceutical and chemical industries. However, the activity measurement of this enzyme has not been well developed, which blocks the utilizing and developing of the enzyme in many research. Fortunately, Creative Enzymes can help you to solve this problem. Creative Enzymes has the ability of method development and has improved the activity assay over years. The spectrophotometric assay is demonstrated to be a reliable method for activity quantification for lactaldehyde reductase (NADPH). Creative Enzymes performs the most advanced spectrophotometric tests for our customers, which distinguishes Creative Enzymes from competitors. Overall, Creative Enzymes is your best choice for any research or development activities involving lactaldehyde reductase (NADPH).
