Nanozymes for Tissue Imaging

An advantage of nanozymes for use in the biomedical imaging field is their editable nature, which allows them to be used as platforms for assembling specific multifunctional structures on demand. These nano-systems still retain good solubility and colloidal properties, and they are suitable for complex environments including blood, tissues, etc. By adjusting the composition of nanozymes and appropriate surface modifications, imaging probes with targeting capabilities in biological systems can be obtained. Nanozymes can be functionalized to provide multimodal applications by modifying different groups such as fluorescent dyes, drugs, targeted ligands, etc.

Nanozymes are widely used in biomedicine and remain a rapidly growing area of research. So far, the focus has been on biological imaging. Creative Enzymes provides a variety of enzymes for tissue imaging, including tumor tissue and pathology tissue, to improve the convenience of medical treatment through biochemistry.

Imaging Type Observation Subject Nanozymes Visualization Method
Tumor Tissue Tumors Au Fluorescent staining
Colorectal cancer CoxFe3-xO4 Colorimetric method
Hepatocellular carcinoma HccFn (Co3O4) Colorimetric method
Esophageal cancer USPIO Immunohistochemical staining
Bladder cancer PMGO Colorimetric immunosensor
Pathological Tissue Atherosclerotic plaques Magneto ferritin Colorimetric method

Imaging of Atherosclerotic Plaques with Nanozymes

  • Ruptured atherosclerotic plaque, which results in thrombosis and vascular obstruction, is a leading cause of death worldwide. For the treatment of carotid and coronary artery disease, there is an urgent need to identify plaque vulnerabilities.
  • Nanozymes with enzyme-like properties have attracted great interest by providing information about the biology, diagnosis and prognosis of diseases. Creative Enzymes has proposed a bioengineered magnetic nanozyme that catalyzes the oxidation of colorimetric substrates to produce chromogenic reactions. From there, it can be implemented to visualize the identified active macrophages.
  • In conclusion, these novel nanozymes enable one-step pathological identification of plaque vulnerability.

Imaging of Various Tumors with Nanozymes

  • In order to achieve high precision and specificity in tumor detection, it is very ideal to design and manufacture simulated enzyme nanoprobes with high enzyme activity, tumor targeting and excellent luminescence performance.
  • We design a novel luciferase mimic nanoprobe targeting gold nanoclusters. The nanoprobe has good stability, low cytotoxicity, high fluorescence and enzyme activity.
  • The nanoprobes can effectively distinguish cancer cells from normal cells, and can be used for fluorescence / visual detection of tumor tissues.

  • Nanozymes with intrinsic enzyme-like activity have become promising approaches for cancer therapy. Ferritin is an excellent platform for size-controlled synthesis and targeted modification of nanozymes.
  • We design a ferritin-based cobalt nanozyme to specifically target and visualize clinical hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissues. In summary, this is a promising prognostic reagent for HCC.
